Oliver O'Connor is a Wedding Photographer in Kent
Photography in this New Millennium has become very easy, and you could be led to assume that almost anyone with a camera could make a satisfactory record of your special day. Truly professional photographers who are dedicated to their craft do far more than merely "click the shutter". In order to create pictures to treasure in the years to come, they are able to cope with the vagaries of the British weather, draw on their experience in controlling guests of all age with tact and diplomacy, and work smoothly and competently to provide the scope and variety of poses the bridal couple require, all within the time scale of the ceremony and reception arrangements.
They will be familiar with the best locations to use whatever the weather and, because of the experience they have built up over covering many weddings, will not be "shaken" by some unexpected incident, and may even turn it to their (and your) advantage. Because they take wedding pictures every week, they know the sequence of groups to be taken so well it has become second nature, and can spend more time on the more romantic poses "custom made to suit YOU, YOUR DRESS, YOUR ATTENDANTS - all designed to make the most of those magic moments when you first become MR & MRS!"
Make sure you get this sort of photographic coverage for your special day,
by using a member of the MPA
MASTER PHOTOGRAPHER'S ASSOCIATION - MPA Member!
The largest professional body of its type in Europe. These local photographers are bound by the Association's Code of Conduct
One final word, don't choose your photographer on price alone - after all you didn't do this when selecting your wedding dress!
Our members will be happy to show you their work, discuss your personal preferences and demonstrate the value for money they offer. Remember, only the photographer is familiar with the wedding scene "throughout". Other people offering services only deal with their contribution.
Don't trust a "Once in a while" photographer with a "once in a lifetime" event.
Put your trust in an MPA member

Oliver's wedding tips
This is a light-hearted look at some of the "niggly" things that can happen many a time at weddings. They are not disasters, but everything runs even more smoothly if they can be avoided.
TIMIMG
The timing is very important; delays could mean the loss of some of your requested photos.
Please ask family and friends to respond quickly when called for photos in the day.
FLOWERS
Make sure that bouquets, buttonholes and corsages are at the right place at the correct time
(3 brides in 2004 forgot their bouquets).
Grooms have been known to arrive at the church flowerless and flapping!
Ladies' flowers go on the right
Mum's corsage should be pinned from the rear with the stalk facing upwards,
otherwise it will be top heavy and may droop.
Gent's buttonholes go on the left, stalk through the hole in the lapel, and pinned from behind Hand-tied bouquets.
Do dry off the stalks if they have been standing in water as it has been known for them to wet the brides dress!
HAIR & CLOTHING
Brides with ringlets (dangly bits) of hair at the sides of their face, these have been known to blow in the face giving the appearance in the photos that the bride has a moustache!
Open topped cars and horse and carriages on windy days, or when travelling a distance, your hair and veil will be blown around. It is wise to allow extra time to carry out repairs upon arrival.
Hat's with large brims, these put the wearer's face in the shade making it difficult to see their eyes in the photographs. They also tend to blow away if not pinned on. We do carry a staple gun!!
Gent's morning dress, we do recommend braces as belts are not worn, and often the trousers will hang below the waistcoat which is not ideal.
Waistcoats, we prefer the bottom button to be done up, otherwise the shirt can be seen and this looks untidy.
Jackets, these look nice worn open as this shows off the fancy waistcoats in the photos.
Reactolite glasses & sunglasses, we recommend these are not worn as the eyes cannot be seen.
We suggest either contact lenses or plain glasses. If you want to use dark glasses as a prop for sun photos, this can work really well.
CAR PARKING
Not all churches have a car park.
Check before-hand and inform your guests in advance that it may take a few minutes extra to park and to allow themselves extra time.
Traditionally speaking, guests should arrive before the bride!
MAPS
It is an excellent idea to supply clear maps to the guests. Especially to those are not locals.
POSING
We like to pose people in the photos. If you do not wish to be posed, please let us know ahead of time.
- In spite of all these comments, you WILL have a wonderful day! -
